The goal of this digital exhibit is to explore the lives of the Livingston women and the extent to which they influenced society and the revolution through the examination of places, letters, art, and everyday objects.  William Livingston was the first elected Governor of New Jersey. He was a militia man and served as a member of the Constitutional Convention. Obviously, he was a man who has made a tremendous impact on American History. However, Livingston spent his life surrounded by women. He had a wife and five daughters who dedicated their lives to him and to America with the same fervor. The contributions of women to history and politics are often lost, this exhibit attempts to uncover the history of the Livingston women, how they contributed to the Revolution, the sacrifices they made, and the trials they faced for the sake of their nation. By looking at the so called Three Graces and Livingston’s “Missing Daughters” we can begin to uncover a whole other side of American history.
